It is now nearly half a century since Walmart exists. From humble beginnings in the 1960s in Arkansas to the world’s leading retailer, Walmart has come a long way to its success. Starting domestically in Arkansas, it was dedicated to its principals; genuine customer courtesy, a culture of respect for the individual and everyday low prices.

Whether in a store or online or on a mobile device, Walmart is there for you. Even when disasters happened like the hurricane Katrina and Rita, Walmart participated to help by providing supplies to the victims. Also, at this period of time, the company is committed to save the environment, creating zero waste, by using renewable energy for the good of people and the environment. This contribution didn’t shake the company’s growth as it was topped the fortune 500 ranking largest companies in the united states for the first time.
Furthermore, the company is expanding internationally serving more than 200 million customers around the world in 27 countries, not to forget its recent gross profit that reaches $ 130.02 billion in 2015 (wikinvest, n.d.). Walmart continues celebrating its 50 years of helping people live better lives and save money (Wlamart , n.d.).

2- Why do some large companies like Wal-Mart decide to expand beyond the boundaries of their ‘home’ countries?
One might think that if the company is operating well and gaining profit in its local market, why going global? Expanding business practises internationally does not happen haphazardly. Thorough and detailed market analysis and investigation is a must to see if it will raise revenue. Doing so makes it easy to decide whether to expand beyond the boarder.
