Thashunda Duckett’s Functions of Management
An effective manager is one that possesses skills and talent. One must be a good communicator, adaptable, excel in employee development, and establish good relationships with potential clients and employees. Thashunda Duckett possess these qualities which is why in September of 2016 JP Morgan Chase named her CEO of Consumer Banking. Duckett was previously CEO of the firm’s Auto Finance business. Duckett manages a banking network with more than $800 billion in deposits and investments, over 5,000 branches, 18,000 ATMs, more than 47,000 employees, and serves over twenty million households worldwide (Chase Media Center, …show more content…
Leading consist of using different influences to motivate and inspire employees to achieve business goals. Motivation is an essential capacity of management because without inspiration, subordinates may feel detached from their work and the association, which can prompt ineffectual execution. On the off chance that management does not inspire their employees, they may not feel their work is adding to the general objectives of the association. An effective leader communicates effectively and can influence their employees to view situation from their perspectives. Trust is a key part of leading. Effective communication is equated to positive trust (Schraeder, Self, Jordan, & Portis, 2015). All managers are not leaders but Duckett is an exceptional leader which my she continues to excel in her career. According to Duckett (2017), “every team needs offense and defense—get the two of them in sync, and you’re in business. As a leader, I feel the responsibility to build this belief and mindset.” In 2009, when Duckett was the Director of Affordable Lending and Channel executive for Bank Branch Integration at JP Morgan Chase, she was 6 months pregnant and preparing for maternity leave (Duckett T. , n.d.). Figuring out how to adjust each of the four capacities all the while running an organization will create an effective manager. These four functions are critical to the success of a manger/CEO which directly impacts the success of a company. Thashunda has shown throughout her career that she uses the four functions of management to aid her being an effective CEO and leader.
