For this week’s forum, I have chosen to answer question two. This question regards the Constitution, specifically how it created a balance between majority rule and allowing smaller groups of people to have a voice, as well as the effectiveness of the Constitutional structures in today’s society.

The United States has developed into an entirely different country than it once was when it was founded. As the prompt mentioned, the population has increased dramatically, and technological advances have come an incredibly long way. For example, the textbook clarifies, “since the Founding, the American population has grown from 3.9 million in 1790, the year of the first official census, to 318 million in 2014” (Ginsberg, Lowi, Weir, Tolbert 17). Along with the increase of population, comes the increase in ethnic diversity within the United States. Throughout American History, the United States has struggled with the topics of immigrants as well as equality. One of the most dramatic changes between the burgeoning United States, and the present day United States, is technology. The invention of computers, Internet, and cell phones has revolutionized the technological and industrial aspects of the modern world. Regardless of all of these changes that have occurred since the United States was founded we have been able to not only survive, but also grow into one of the most influential nations in the world.
