It would bring him great joy and happiness if others thought of him as a hero. Henry joined the army hoping to become a legacy. “They might not be distinctly Homeric, but there seemed to be much glory in them.” (ch. 1) He had no clue what he was getting himself into. Henry then discovered that the war wasn’t the thing for him. He was to afraid to be injured or killed. Henry got hurt, ran away afraid the men might find out what he had been up to, but then later returned when he knew that he had to face the men and their questions. He figured out that it didn’t really matter what other’s thought of him and that he was happy to alive and living a well.
The pursuit of happiness was shown although all the the stories that we have read. The Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men, and The Red Badge of Courage were some of the greatest examples of happiness. In the stories you wouldn’t think of happiness, and but when you truly look into them with great depth you discover it.
