Introduction

Today, in every organization personnel planning is very necessary. It is an important part of the organization. Every organization has to follow certain ways which ensures that it has right number and right kind of people at the right place and right time, so that the organization can achieve its objective. The main objectives of Human Resource Department are Human Resource Planning, Recruitment and Selection, Training and Development, Career planning, Transfer and Promotion, Risk Management, Performance Appraisal and so on. Each objective needs special attention and proper planning and implementation. To have a right person on the right job is the most important activity for every organization. Recruitment and Selection plays an important role in this situation.

Meaning Recruitment means to analyze the available vacancies and to make suitable and required arrangements for the selection and appointment in order to fill the vacancies. Recruitment is formally defined as ‘the process of finding and attracting capable applicants for the employment. The process begins when new recruits are sought and ends when their applicants are submitted. The result is a pool of applicants from which new employees are selected.’ Recruitment enables the organization to obtain the large number and different types of individuals required for the regular working of the organization.
