In 1897, Pearle Wait was finally able to perfect the simple gelatin dessert, it was taking years to master. His wife May David Wait gave it its name as what we know now, Jell-O. Wait then sold his company for $450 dollars to Frank Woodwark, because Wait didn’t have the funding for marketing and distributing his product. Success in the advertising campaigns finally began to rise in 1902 due to William E. Humelbaugh. In 1904, they launched the printed portion of their advertising and created “best selling” recipe booklets. They also announced the Jell-O girl in 1904, Elizabeth King, whose father had a connection with Dauchy Company, the advertising agency Jell-O used. Finally in 1934, General Food signed Jack Benny, an American actor, who got the whole world to know about this wonderful product. In 1964, the slogan “There’s always room for Jell-O” came out, hoping to promote the product as something you can eat at any time. …show more content…
They are using commercials now to attract to the people they want to buy Jell-O the most, families and children. The new advertising campaign has a catchphrase “Fun Things Up” and involved a father and son. It shows the boys going through adult problems like losing hair or having a hard day at work.
