In Chapter 6, The Unknown Territory of Your Mind, we established that the mind, especially the unconscious mind, has a tremendous influence on the way we live our lives. Our thoughts cause our feelings and emotions, and then those feelings and emotions cause us to act and react in certain ways, which in turn creates the results and circumstances in our lives. Mind Awareness means becoming aware of the thoughts and the mostly hidden beliefs and programs that underlie our thinking process. It also means becoming aware of our speech and the way we talk to ourselves.
Unfortunately, learning how our thinking process impacts every decision we make and thus shapes and affects us in our daily life is not part of our educational system. We never hear

Therefore, it is essential that our communication (our thoughts, words and body language) is as consistent, clear and positive as we can possibly make it. As it is our predominant thoughts that are responsible for the way we speak and feel, the next logical step is to introduce you to Thought Awareness. Thought Awareness “There is a basic law that like attracts like. Negative Thinking definitely attracts negative results. Conversely, if a person habitually thinks optimistically and hopefully, his positive thinking sets in motion creative forces – and success instead of eluding him flows toward him.”

Thought awareness is the process by which we become conscious of and observe our thoughts as they come and go in our mind. It is the first step in the process of managing thoughts as we can only manage what we know exists. Once we are aware of our thoughts, especially the negative thoughts that undermine our success, including healing, we can consciously interrupt them and stop thinking them.

It was not easy to break my habitual responses, but I did! I learned to monitor my thoughts and reframe negative thoughts into positive ones. I now immerse myself in positive thoughts because it takes three positive thoughts to erase the side effects of one negative thought.[] I recovered using thought awareness.
Positive thought is much more influential than you probably think it is, and you may be more negative than you think you are. Positivity research tells us that most people have thoughts that are thirty to forty percent positive; or to say it the other way around: most of us think thoughts that are sixty to seventy percent negative.[] This is an astoundingly high percentage of negative thinking and means that your current state of health and your life are most likely shaped by negative thoughts.
Human beings spend a great deal of time worrying unnecessarily about things in their past or present that they cannot change. We imagine things in the future that will never happen, and these negative thoughts are responsible for a lot of our stress.     In an essay by Jonah Lehrer called “The Eureka Hunt”, the author introduces the reader to a study about insight and how the brain works through the thought process that leads to an idea.
