Peace is an ongoing ideology that the world has to continue to strive for, and even if it is reached, will need to work to maintain. The web is a major factor in technological communications, email and web forums have increased the amount of conversations on otherwise strained topics in society (Cole, Crawford, 2007).
Being connected to people from around the world makes finding someone with a common goal much more plausible. Instead of being alone in an endeavor one can find likeminded individuals with whom to collaborate. With the ease of pressing a few buttons, locating a cause that is near and dear to your heart can happen and one can jump right in and get involved with it. Ideally the more educated a person is, the less likely they are to be at the center of a conflict, however this is not always the case. As more theorists study peace education and its positive effects on violent behavior, more children should be garnering knowledge about peaceful exchanges. Peace is not removing all conflict, but resolving conflicts with rational, non-violent behavior (Sagkal, Ali; Turnuklu, Abbas; Totan, Tarik). Yet with the internet at their fingertips, they don’t see that the web shows us that their vision of peace where people reason out a rational outcome doesn’t typically happen. Tim Berners-Lee has given the world a great gift. Mankind must choose to use this gift to advance the noble and truly good in the world. With the web the world can share their stories to inspire others to help the world. All it takes is a little effort on mankind 's part to truly change the society we live in. For this gift, for the work he has made possible, and the work he continues to do, he deserves recognition. It has been 25 years since Berners-Lee’s idea first came to fruition and although he has been globally recognized and bestowed many awards, a Nobel Peace Prize is not yet one of
