In today’s world the internet makes up a large portion of the way we get our news and keep in touch with family and friends. Some people believe that the new technology is a new tool used for conducting incivility. I have to disagree with these people on the thought that it does more good for this world than harm. I believe the use of internet and social media encourage civility in today’s society. Cyberbullying is a new form of bullying that has just recently come about from the use of internet and social media. Some of these kids can be very cruel when they use social media and feel it is easier to say these vulgar comments since they don’t have to say it to the victims face. Before the technology was advanced as it is now it took much longer to get information about a catastrophes going on in the world. Now thanks to technology we can get news about what is going on in the world much faster. This makes it easier and quicker to send specialist that would be able to help. This is just one small way that technology helps encourage civility in today’s world. Not only does technology keep a person readily informed about what is going on in the world it also helps keep citizens informed about what is going on in politics. When this country was first founded it took weeks for information to travel from the east to west coast; this made it hard for citizens to know what was going on with their politics. As this country has evolved it takes minutes if not seconds for someone to get on the internet and see what has been the latest news. Before technology they would have to write leaders and they could take weeks to get to their loved on. Now thanks to the fast growing technology you can skype or email them. This makes communicating much quicker and more heartfelt. Our service members do a great deed for this country and being able to communicate quicker and faster is one small way we can say thank you. Many families are stretched across the country due to jobs and it makes for them hard to keep in touch. With the use of social media they are able to catch up what they are going through on a daily basis and see how they are doing. It also helps with friends who maybe do not stay in contact every day.
