Poor Reading Score Essay

In recent discussions of kids and teenagers reading, a controversial topic whether the way the school board is trying fix it is good. On one hand, some argue that retaining the student will be beneficial for them so he or she can catch up on reading at their grade level. On the other hand, however, others argue that the reason why the student has a poor test score is because they were taught poorly in school and did not read outside of school. In summary, the issue is about a students’ reading level and how to fix it. While some believe that students have a low reading scores because they don’t have access to books or they are not reading outside of school. The more students read the more successful academically they will be. We are in a point in society where teenagers and kids are glued to their phones. A kid who is in love with their phone can practically marry it. It is harder to find teens or kids who read for fun. But finding a book that that same kid who is glued to their phone is harder. Teens and kids all across America are reading below their grade level. 700,000 adults in Mississippi are stil reading below their grade level. With the advance technology that is taking over the world, they are slowly coming to our schools. Schools now and days either have a laptop, tablet or IPad. Teachers say having laptops/tablets improve the students attitude in a positive way and improves their classroom participation.
