The feeling of being protected or safe is one of the many needs of a human. According to dictionary.com protection is defined as “the act of protecting or the state of being protected; preservation from injury or harm.” But protection comes in many forms. Even though the guy is naked and usually the first thing you would see; he is positioned right in the middle of the ad because that’s where you would normally look first. Also the naked man has a gun right over his penis to protect it and to show that even though he is naked, his gun is still protecting him. Another thing that is symbolizing protection is the wall that they are standing against because it is also serving as a form of protection from the bullets or whatever is coming at them from the havoc in the background. Now the text is kind of out of the way in the lower right hand corner but it is in bright colors so you can clearly see it and so it sticks out from the rest of the ad. “Yellow is one of the most visible colors and is also the most attention-getting color. Yellow can be used in small amount to draw notice,” according to about.com. There is a small amount of the color yellow used in this ad but it is defiantly grabbing your attention and this shade of yellow is suppose to make you feel cheery and warm. This should cause you to want to buy a condom because it could make your sex life more cheery or happy because you know you are being protected and having safe

I come in contact with advertising everyday. The advertising I discern varies from graffiti on buildings to billboards along the highway to pictures in a magazine. Advertisements, along with the advertisers, have one sole purpose; to attract the consumer’s eye. Although there are various forms of advertising, all advertisements speak the same seducing language. In, The Language of Advertising by Charles A. O’Neill, he discusses the many language techniques advertisers use.…

Many people are not aware of how susceptible they are to the influences and subliminal messages found within advertising today. The truth is, teenagers as well as adults are numb to the fact that they are even being influenced by it, which is in turn manipulating them. One way these viewers and potential buyers are being drawn in to these advertisements are by companies promoting a favorite, even universal, technique: sex. In Jean Kilbourne 's essay, "Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt": Advertising and Violence, it is evident that sex in advertising is the primary approach used to negatively draw in viewers; however, this approach objectifies women, portrays women as weak and defenseless creatures in the eyes of men, as well as encouraging men…

The man in the ad, judging from his side profile, is about average looking. His features, in comparison to hers, are nothing special. He has dark hair is about an inch in length, and about a centimeter above his eyebrows. On his chin and cheeks, a person could see what may be a five o’clock shadow. Unlike the woman, he is fully covered in what may be a dark suit.…

The Calvin Klein Jean ad shows a half-naked man draped over half-naked women both of the oiled up and twisting around each other, conveys an implied steamy twosome. Calvin Klein is known for their quality of clothing and their high status on the fashion runway. In the ads, they are known for their edginess. They are not shy about going out of the norms when it comes to making their adverts. It all started in 1980 with the Brooke Shields (a 15 year old girl) advert in 1980, with a punch line "Nothing comes between me and my class" One would argue that even though the ad is targeting a younger demographic there still needs to be a sense of responsiveness towards proper ethics.…

1950’s: In my Retail Revolution report, I am researching and analysing the progress of the advertising of iconic food staples in Australia from the years 1950-2015. Weet-Bix is an iconic breakfast cereal product made of whole wheat created by Bennison Osbourne, who sought out to make a cereal more palatable than “Granose”. Sanitarium, an Australian corporation which specialises in health foods, started manufacturing the product in the early 1920’s.…

If a consumer knows what they are looking at and understand what the advertisement is saying or trying to say then they might be more cautious when looking at the advertisements and media in today’s world. The articles “With These Words I Can Sell You Anything” by William Lutz and “The Language of Advertising” by Charles O’Neill explains the use of advertisement and the effect on the target audience. Through the credibility of both authors, the diction they use and how they use it and the tone of both of the authors state their stance and knowledge about the topic of advertising. Overall I do believe that O’Neill’s article is the most effective. O’Neill was very to the point on what he needed to say about advertising.…

GQ Magazine is a popular men’s magazine. The author and designer of the magazine cover clearly wanted to catch the male eye. The author successfully accomplished this by putting a picture of Jenifer Anniston, who is a very attractive female, on the cover sitting naked with a red, white, and blue tie around her neck. On the other hand, the second magazine also caught the male eye. The male sitting nude caught the eye of males who are either gay or looking at it to judge the person on the cover.…

As consumers, we have many reasons to believe that we are not effected by advertisement. We go about our normal lives, blind to what the true effects that advertising has on us, in both our physical and mental states. Though it’s difficult for advertisers to sway us in making a physical decision, the mental game they play with us is longer lasting and later comes to a physical decision. Many advertiser’s intentions with advertisements is to provoke an emotional response dealing with the senses of taste, success, and in some cases a sexual pleasure. Advertisements are full of riddles and secrets hidden within the page and text and they can be deceiving and, in some cases, deadly.…

Everywhere we go nowadays, advertisements are prevalent all over; making it difficult to depict an underlying meaning seeing as you are constantly surrounded by them. Whether you are out and about, or sitting at home watching TV, products are constantly being displayed that you “need to get.” Some gimmicks and sayings that are used to promote these services or items are completely ridiculous, or even offending. There are many ads that have hidden messages that pertain to topics such as race, gender, class, and disability that can be stereotypical and insulting. A particular advertisement that caught my attention was an ad campaign from Suitsupply called “Toy Boys” which featured many pictures of men playing on blown up women's bodies like…
