Essay On Pursuing A Bachelor's Degree Career

When looking for a career it is important to look for possibilities. One of my academic goals is to continue pursuing a graduate degree after earning my bachelor’s degree. However, I never really thought about a career that I can do with a bachelor’s in psychology. That being said, one job that crossed my mind was being a preschool teacher. Although, a bachelor’s degree is not really required it is recommended. A graduate degree career that I always thought about pursuing is a forensic psychologist or pursue a career in education, such as being academic counselor and working at a community college. For these careers one should have communication, writing and listening skills in order to convey information and be able to articulate information to others and to their audience. Be able to create a relationship or trust with others, be able to collaborate and work with others. Be able to make decision and cope with certain situations. Be creative, be organized and have patience. These skills are both important for a forensic psychologist and a preschool teacher. However, for a forensic psychologist the most important skills they must possess are solid clinical skills. “That is, skills like clinical assessment, interviewing, report writing, strong verbal communication skills (especially if an expert witness in court) and case presentation are all very important in setting the foundation of the practice of forensic psychology” (American Psychological Association). Being a forensic psychologist involves doing investigation, research studies, assessment and consultation and analytical skills. That is why is important for one to master these skills. I know that Cal State La and other schools offer a master’s degree in forensic psychology, maybe this is something that I would like to
