From the moment a baby is born it’s first instinct is to learn from the world around it, taking in colors, shapes, and sounds. Learning and education is a huge part of every individual 's life; children start schooling at an early age and continue to go to school for many years. Everyone is taught from an early age that we need to go to school until the twelfth grade and then after graduation they need to go to college. After the student graduates they need to decide if secondary education is what they absolutely need/want. Postsecondary education is a stepping stone for millennials everywhere; therefore college and an education after high school can open so much up for an individual. Postsecondary education can do many things for a student including teaching them about another way of living or introducing them to things they have not seen before. Gary Gutting, a writer for the New York Times, conveys this idea by stating, “The raison d’être of a college is to nourish a world of intellectual culture; that is, a world of ideas, dedicated to what we can know scientifically, understand humanistically, or express artistically”(Gutting). Humanity expresses themselves through literature, arts, and scientific research, and millennials in college are able to explore these work through classes and/or lectures. Because education clarifies subjects, students are able to become more in tune with the events around them. The students have a more sophisticated outlook on what is happening, and what they can do to help in their community or other communities. Not only can postsecondary education connect people to the community, Postsecondary education can connect people to their family and friends. It does this by giving the students more incite to what is around them, they will know how to deal with more situation and know how to respond in a more meaningful way. College can open up new worlds and possibilities to all those who enter even it is only for a general degree or to find out individually what we
