I’ve always wanted a career in a field where I would be able to do the greatest good in the community; however, it wasn’t until my last year of community college that I realized Sociology/Human Service was the best choice. When I initially started school, I was interested in Computer Programming, but eventually learned this wasn’t the direction I wanted to move forward with. I’ve always loved helping people, and although working as a computer tech would afford me this opportunity, on some level, human service work is what I was called to do. I value the importance of being a helping hand, which is why I will continuously aspire to be the best community worker that I can be. My goal is to be a service to my community and exemplify the growth and change I would like to see. My education and life experiences have taken me on an amazing journey and through them, an eagerness and passion to learn and educate others flourishes. A goal I practice daily is sharing my knowledge with others and embodying the values that I adapted at Salem College, which assisted me in building character, intelligence, determination, and a tremendous deal of patience. As I reflect over the challenges I’ve overcame, sometimes I find it hard to believe I made it this far in my journey.
