My College Admissions Essay: My Path To Success

Introspection allows one to gain a clear understanding of past limitations and the skills developed to find successes in life. Through this process we identify attributes and behaviors that lead to future successes and the ability to thrive in the “Real World.” The circumstances of my life have been a constant challenge as I deal with issues in both body and mind. Results of bacterial meningitis at 15 months old will forever remain, yet they will not hinder my success. This disease may well be a blessing as it forced me to strive and exceed expectations and is key to who I am and what motivates me. Acknowledging strengths and weaknesses, challenges met to reach significant achievements, and goals for one’s career path all become even more important as a college student approaches the end this phase—transition from child to adult. It is frightening and exciting all at once. I am an emerging adult with a world of options ahead of me. …show more content…
Time management, competitiveness, focus and determination, and an unwillingness to accept defeat are my core strengths. Being a competitive athlete provided countless life lessons thus allowing me to develop these successful strengths. In a week with 168 hours, 56 hours were left after training, school/tutors, and sleep for time with family and friends, Time management was the key to my success. When you survive so many challenges at a young age, you develop a thick skin so my biggest weakness is lack of trust. In addition to trust issues, I have learning challenges in which tasks do take me longer to absorb and complete. But my ability to overcome challenges is my biggest strength.
