The definition of a team is a group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project. (What is a team? Definition and meaning, n.d.). A well-oiled connective team in the hospitality industry does not simply happen, it takes hard work and determination to be able to form harmony. Acknowledgement and understanding of the team and its members and how each contribution differs from one another, its building skills and a definitive leadership contribute to the foundations of a successful team. Becoming unified needs to be addressed at the beginning, during the hiring process, and maintained after a member has been hired. Clear and concise communication while staying positive and respectful will offer value to and from members and assure, not demand reciprocation. Proper training should be of extreme importance to maintain the team’s progression is consistent and in harmony. To provide proper training and team building skills, schedule paid training where questions and answers for concerns will offer validation and growth, not assumptions. Hold monthly productivity meetings with individual team members and members as a whole that are structured and clear, begin and finish on time and always follow a time line.
