According to Sturgess and Higson (2016) “Teamwork is when a group of individuals work together cohesively, towards common goal; creating a positive working atmosphere and supporting each other to combine individual strengths to enhance team performances” (Para 1).
From the definition and experience of what team work encompasses, I agreed it is absolutely vital and necessary for me to work as a team to be able to achieve professional, NHS and patient care standard.

I believe it is a simple developmental stage of 5 phases. But in this reflection I will only recognise 4 phases. According to Abudi (2010), Tuckman believed his theory is unavoidable as it is required for growth, performance and delivery for a team to function right. Day (2006) States these phases as: Forming, storming, norming and performing. Each phase signifies a movement closer to focusing on the task, to achieve clarity on result, bounding and having a relationship with one another, resulting in team building. Forming is the first phase, first meeting introduction, trying to get to know each other and task discussion. The second phase storming is the phase where individual differences begin to reflect, there will be conflicts of interests as individuals begin to showcase their strengths. Norming which is the third phase depicts the phase of individuals starting to focus on working together, they begin to value their differences and respect their opinions, trusting one another and getting results. The fourth phase is the performing phase. This phase is the height of it all where every individual is now accountable for themselves. Everyone’s focus is now about attaining the organisational goals. In my own case, I followed the theory through and got great result.
