The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Azusa Pacific University (APU)’s Religious and Spiritual programs on current student’s academic success, engagement, faith and spiritual development. We wanted to further study how APU as a religious affiliated institution has had an effect on current student’s spiritual growth. We specifically wanted to see how experiences vary depending on the student’s class level, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. Furthermore, we are interested in looking at how a student’s religious affiliation, international status, military-veteran, and sexual orientation affects their faith development and experiences with the various religious and spiritual programs. Also, we wanted to focus on how various populations feel about the services that are provided by Campus Religious and Spiritual programs at APU.
We aspired to evaluate whether APU is fulfilling their mission, and determine if APU’s Religious and Spiritual programs have created environments that are welcoming, accessible, inclusive, and equitable to all students.

This survey was distributed throughout the span of three weeks on the APU campus and various facebook group sites. The survey included various demographic questions, close-ended, open-ended questions, and Likert scale items. Students who completed the survey were entered to participate in a raffle to win a $20 Amazon gift card.
There were three variables that we sought to measure through this evaluation: student’s spiritual development, academic success, and engagement. We chose to define “spiritual development” as spiritual growth and maturity of an individual’s identity through God. Our definition of academic success was the students’ level of performance and confidence. Lastly, we defined our last variable of “engagement” as the students’ involvement in different religious
