The Guernsey County Board of Disabilities has programs for all ages. They have Help Me Grow for ages birth to three and Early Intervention for ages birth to five, bright beginnings preschool for ages three to six, Golden Rule School for ages six to twenty two, and they also have Guernsey Industries workshop for adults over twenty-two (Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2016).The public schools around this area have also accommodated for children with disabilities.
Help Me Grow is a program that equips parents with the means to help their children acquire the early building blocks necessary for long term success. Any child under the age of three can receive a free developmental evaluation through early intervention with Help Me Grow if there are concerns with their development (Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2016). Early intervention helps to improve developmental and educational growth, help children with developmental delays, and help to reduce the need for future special services, as well as more (Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2016). The bright beginnings preschool and the Golden Rule School provide a one on one aide for children who need that one on one. Provide and education, vocational training, and therapeutic services to children three to upon graduating (Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2016).
