The “Women make Eighty-pence for every £1 men make” is a contrived figure propagated by the dogmatic opposition in order to give the illusion that men are actually paid more than women. In reality, the figure is made for the sole purpose of trying to prove men wrong. Unfortunately for opposing party, the figure has been proven to be completely unfair towards men. As previously stated, the figure does not take important variable such as hours worked, job position or education into account. So why is this figure so prominent in the debate of gender pay?
