Global warming has become a major environmental issue whether some acknowledge it or not. The biggest concern for us all is how global warming happened. What has brought about global warming? Does that one single source exist as the reason for all the chaos that have brought damage on this world today? The evidence points to not just one single cause, but many. The reality of the effects of global warming on the earth has been debated. The answer to the causes can be seen in the effects.
So, what is global warming? Global warming is the increase of the earth’s average surface temperature due to effects of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane. Due to these gases absorbing the heat that would ordinarily escape from the earth, the temperature of the earth increases more than usual. There are numerous reasons that contribute to the global warming trend. According to the Environmental Protection Agency reports, “Human activities like burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrialization and pollution are considered as few of the factors responsible for global warming.” The increasing electricity production has made the dependency on burning coal. The increased demand for cars which in turn makes the consumption of gasoline. The increased demand for wood and paper products has contributed to the removing of forests.
