There are many problems in our world today. Some have been around since way back when, and most have just gotten more noticed. One problem around the world that has gotten more intense is obesity. Though obesity is a national problem, America and Mexico are affected the most. They’re the top two countries in the world with highest obesity population. America holding the number one spot for a while.
America held the number one spot of obese people until Mexico knocked it out of its place. In the America, almost two thirds of the population is obese. A large portion of the population is obese which wasn 't a problem years ago. As time passed, obesity began to progress in adults and children due to food chains becoming a priority in a normal day.

Most of the population has problems caused by obesity. Some problems are high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease, joint problems, cancer, and psychological effects. These are life threatening issues that unhealthy eating and bad physical care can cause that could easily be fixed. Effects have been increasing throughout the nation, “Each year obesity related cost over 150 billion dollars and cause an estimated 300,000 premature deaths in the US.” (Stanford Health Care). Getting help for obesity care costs a lot, so not only are you worried about your health, you’re worried about your money as well. Obesity leaves a mental effect along with a physical one. As said in ABC News, “discussions with loved ones about their burgeoning weight often come across as judgmental and derogatory.” Most obese people get mentally abused because of their weight. Like America, the obesity increase has led to a number of diseases being some of the main causes of death in Mexico. According to Fatima Masse from The Guardian, “a modifiable risk factor for developing noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and even some types of cancer.” This is a huge problem all throughout Mexico that has been rapidly increasing. This is affecting their medical costs for treatments. The amount of money that has been spent on obesity related treatments started to increase. The growth in the cancer population in Mexico was from obesity. Most diseases were becoming more popular for the people. It’s a frightening epidemic in both Mexico and America.
For both countries, all the causes were about the same. In America, obesity is mostly caused by fast food and lack of exercise. In Mexico, it 's mostly caused by the food they make that they eat to gain energy and lack of exercise also. They both have the same effects. Causing diseases, physical problems, and mental problems. There 's also a common group of people it affects the most. It mostly targets the young which increases the growth in obese population for both countries.
