We should teach of more about obesity and health issues in schools. The more aware people are of how obesity can effect their bodies, the more likely they are to watch their diet and exercise habits. Obesity in adolescence is steadily increasing and the young adults are not understanding the effect it has on their bodies until it is too late. Although we have physical education classes and health/ lifetime wellness classes, we need to be doing more. Those courses do not cover enough for someone to truly understand how and why they must take care of their bodies, which includes what they put in them. If a student in middle school or high school sees how the fat in a burger in processed in their body and can begin to build up cholesterol levels, they may begin to rethink their choice of eating burgers and take the healthier route of chicken or a wrap. Along with more education, the education system needs to set a good example by watching what they feed to their students. By feeding them fattening foods, they are demonstrating to their students that it is acceptable to eat that junk on a daily basis.
