How Feminism Created and Saved Wonder Woman
From the beginning, as one could guess with her being a female …show more content…
She also served as one of the two inspirations for Wonder Woman. The second was Marston’s former student and both his and Elizabeth’s partner(yes in the romantic way) Olive Byrne(remember her, oh by the way her family created the organization that would later become Planned Parenthood).
Just to make sure I put enough emphasis on this. William Moulton Marston the creator of Wonder Woman was in a healthy polyamorous relationship. Steinem seeing her childhood superhero powerless and more of a damsel in distress than badass nazi puncher was offended. She recognized the impact Wonder Woman both had on her and could have on future generations if she was back to being Wonder Woman.
So what did you she do about it? Well first Wonder Woman needs to be back in her original costume and obviously back with her powers, but Steinem didn’t really have the ability to change that in the comics so she instead did so on the cover of the brand new magazine of Ms.
