The audience of a hip-hop song could be pertaining to a variety of people, such as the rapper's fans, haters, critics, friends, partners, etc. G-Eazy’s audience in the song “I mean it” is his haters. When I say haters, I mean of rappers and fans who despise him and his music. G-Eazy has haters in my opinion because of his race and how he grew up early in his life to his rise in fame. He is Caucasian, which will always bring some hate in the rap game as many speculate white rappers can’t rap. African americans are known to own the hip-hop industry since it has started and still to this day. They have the most fans and most attention when it comes to hip-hop music. G-Eazy was also not raised in poverty nor did he have a severe hardship in his life, besides his parents splitting when he was young (capitalxtra.com). He was able to attend college at Loyola University at New Orleans, where he developed and finished his first album (capitalxtra.com). This line G-Eazy wrote is directed towards people who do not know him, as he was not very known in the rap industry when he wrote this song. This line means what it says, when he walks into a place, people don’t know him, but want too because they notice he looks so fly and wealthy (genius.com).
