Eminem Lose Yourself Analysis

Phase one of the five cannons pertains to the invention of the speech. The invention deals with the content of the speech and how the speaker used his/her content to get the message across through inartistic proofs which are facts, statistics etc. and artistic proofs which are the logos, ethos, and pathos aspect of a claim. Throughout the song “Lose yourself,” by Eminem, he includes many personal details of his character “Rabbit” in his movie 8mile as well as information from his personal life. In verse one Eminem is referencing Rabbit in “Yo, his palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There's vomit on his sweater already: Mom's spaghetti. In verse two Eminem goes into detail about his fame and how he can lose it all if he doesn’t stay focused. He knows he will become a legend and his lyrics will never die out, but fame gets harder as time goes by and claims this in, “A normal life is boring; but superstardom's Close to post-mortem, it only grows harder.” Eminem describes in this line “God only knows, he's grown farther from home, he's no father. He goes home and barely knows his own daughter,” that he has been on the road a lot and hasn’t seen his daughter much which makes him feel like an inadequate father. We can also see in this line he is speaking about his own life because in the movie 8mile, rabbit does not have a daughter. He uses the facts of the movie 8mile where he played the main character. He knew firsthand what the movie was about and what the main character was supposed to feel throughout the movie. Also, the movie was based on Eminem’s life with a few minor differences thus him being able to incorporate personal examples of his struggle. This song can be seen as reliable because it is semi-autobiographic and holds a story only a strong person can
