I am 17 years old I have had my licenses for over a year now, and haven’t gotten in any accidents. I became a little more risky, using my phone, looking away from the road more. I didn’t think that getting in an accident would ever happen to me, I thought I was a great driver. Until I cross the median into oncoming traffic with my friends in the car. I’m unconscious, I had to be pulled out of the wreckage. I was rushed to the hospital into surgery. The nurses are calmly calling my family to inform them of the accident. I’m in the operating room now, I been in surgery for hours, I made it through surgery now all my family can do it wait. But what about the other people? My friends, how are they?
My friend in the passenger seat was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition, she’s in a coma. My friend in the back middle seat was ejected from the car and died on site. I’m now reasonable for the death of my friend, they trusted me with their life when they got in the car with my, but now their gone, and I’m going to prison on involuntary manslaughter a felony charge. All because I looked down for a split second. We have developed a new technology that could save thousands of lives, it’s called Sense My Phone. It’s a small device that fits into the air vent of any vehicle type, that blocks the usage of all apps while the car is in motion. It is mainly for parents to put in their child's car to prevent them from texting, snapchatting, tweeting or anything else they might be doing behind the wheel. It also has a free app that can be downloaded to help parents keep up with their child. The parents can track their child's phone while they're in the car, program it to block any other apps that might be download that might be distracting. Sense My Phone isn’t meant to track every place that the person goes, it’s meant to help parents make sure that their child isn’t speeding, going somewhere other than where they said they were going, or using their phone while driving. The device only blocks signal to the phones that are programmed in the app. Sense my phone is an easy, cheap way to make stop distracted driving, and it’s not only for young adults, anyone can buy one and use it. Why have the temptation of the text? When if you use our device you can stop the notification from even popping up, helping to eliminate the idea of looking down for a split second to see who texted you what. Our device could save thousands of lives by eliminating the notification from popping up and giving the driver a reason to look away from the road. These days teenagers are addicted to their to phones, they go with them everywhere. We use them for the simplest tasks; from communicating with our friends and family, to doing homework at the last minute, to looking up how to spell something on the internet, our phones are the way we connect to the world we live in. Because we’re so connected to our phones we don’t think of getting into an accident when we look at our phone while driving, but really looking down from the road for even a second could cost someone their life. Sense My Phone is designed to eliminate anyone from looking away from the road for any reason while their behind the wheel. If you ask any teenager, they will 9 times out of 10 tell you that they wouldn’t be able to live with phones. If you ask any adult they will probably tell you the same thing. It’s just the world we live in now, but just because we’re so attached to our phones doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be safe while we’re in the car.
