I. Description of the Issue:
Definition of Teenage Pregnancy: Teen pregnancy is a teenage girl who gets pregnant from ages thirteen to nineteen.
Causality: Teenage pregnancies are very large numbers each year 4 of every 10 are teens or one million each year (Desirae M. Domenico). Some of the causes of teen pregnancy are caused by family relationships. Teenagers, whose parents don’t show much affection, little communication or show rejection to their children and these teens, tend to seek for these actions outside. They find relationships that will give them the affection and attention that they don’t receive at home (McCullough & Scherman, 1991). Teenagers receive slight of sex education, in schools and at homes are other causes of teen pregnancy. Sex education can be another cause of teen pregnancy. Some schools don’t have in depth sexual education. Most of them just teach that sex is wrong and don’t teach about the methods of protected sex or different options of contraception. Some cultures for example, Hispanic cultures don’t get sex education/ conservations with their children. Sex is not something its taboo, which is a topic that is not mentioned or question. As, sex could be an embarrassing topic to talk about with teens.
Another cause could be family structures, for example, a teen did not grow up with a father figure or the mother was teen mother could influence the probability of a teen pregnancy.
