Albatross Anchors is a major manufacturer, they manufacture two different types of anchors and have continued to grow since they started with just 4 family members in 1976. The plant overall is outdated and technology deprived. The administrative offices are dilapidated, disorganized, and run inefficiently. The plant is obsolete, worn dirty, and no longer meets all US safety and environmental standards. The company is in need of many required changes so they can be more productive and have better time management. The business is in need of a larger more organized workspace to accelerate production and shipment of product demand. Albatross Anchor must make clear and sustainable decisions to gain a competitive advantage, so profits and production can be maximized. Implementing better processes and practices along with identifying the proper Long and Short Term changes needed, will result in a more efficient and more productive business (Kaplan, n.d.).
In regards to Albatross Anchor and their needed long term goals, the first thing that has to be fixed before any other moves are made is the layout. The company is already losing money because of the floor plan. Albatross Anchor should construct detached building in the forest area of the property to create more warehouse space, as well as, update the Administrative to make operations more efficient for all employees.
