Product: An office chair (OEM) In product design, anthropometry and ergonomics usually go hand in hand. Anthropometry involves the collection of measurements relevant to human body called anthropometric data. Therefore, in this case, before designing the office chair, various body dimensions which include sitting elbow height, shoulder height, knee height, popliteal height, buttock-popliteal length, stature and body weight of the adults of working age were probably being measured. 2. You have been given a budget of RM100.00 per workstation to help redesign the Ergonomics Lab (Textiles Lab) at our department. Design an ergonomically appropriate workstation. Ergonomics is important in a workplace to improve working conditions, to reduce illness at work and to help prevent repetitive and cumulative injuries.
In my opinion, the workstation of the Ergonomics Laboratory at our department is not ergonomically designed as the table is high and the lighting is way too bright.
Evidences: If the table is high, user has to uphold an awkward posture when working at the table. By holding an awkward posture over and over, it will lead to muscle and joint stresses. Besides, it will also cause pain, tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, back or neck pain.
Area lighting levels from 300-500lux are generally considered to be the most appropriate for computer work. Yet, the lighting level at the laboratory’s workstation is 565lux. Excessive light levels may mask characters or whatever is shown on the computer screen and create more and brighter sources of glare and consequently result in eye fatigue and
