Women are taken advantage of because they are professed to be the weaker sex. They are also stereotyped to being naive and vulnerable. Men use this to their benefit in the workplace because they feel a sense of gratification when they overpower a woman physically and mentally. This idea is presented in the article in the article Sexual Harrassment in the Workplace. Maggie L. Lewis deliberates the journey that women have gone through in the work field from the early 20th century till present time. “Data shows that the same relationship that existed ‘between a man’s power and his sexual access to women’ in traditional societies, exists today, in modern society” (Lewis 213). Studies have proven that men use their supremacy in the work field to inappropriately approach the opposite sex, knowing that they can get away with it. Women in the workplace often do not report the harassment that they receive because they are afraid of the outcomes. “Despite possessing the entitlement to report harassing behavior to employers through Title VII, many women today decide not to report this behavior, and instead silently suffer each day that they attend work” (Lewis 201).
