The little boy would have understood that picking up toys and games off the shelves at a store is not acceptable unless he is going to buy it. Also, if the mother of this child would have spanked him right away, it would have saved her a lot of time that was spent yelling at the little boy. The mother would have had a more enjoyable day at the store, and her young child would have learned his lesson very quickly. I understand that each parent has a choice of how to discipline their children, but I believe some ways are more effective than others. From my experiences and observations, I have come to the obvious conclusion that spanking is the best form of discipline. Spanking is a great way to teach young children that if they do something wrong there will be a punishment. Once children realize that the punishment will be a spanking, they will do their absolute best to be well behaved so that they will not get spanked

As a child, I must say that I did get spankings but, not to the extent where bruises were left or I was bleeding. My mom never wanted to hurt me; she just wanted to teach me right from wrong. Sometimes, my mom would do things such as take my television time away for a couple of hours or a day to discipline me or even my cell phone when I got a little bit older. It’s not all about how you discipline your child but whether they know what to do and what not to do. Even though there’s no one perfect parent on earth, child abuse is never the answer to solving problems.…

Now I believe a child needs a spanking every once in awhile when they act a fuss, if you let kids run the household with empty threats, and soft punishments, they learn no respect, and I believe sets them up for a life filled with let downs, and false entitlements that may lead them to a life on the street. Narrtio Clearly, the majority of parents say they spank their kids. Certain factors increase the likelihood of spanking, like geographic location (children in the South are spanked the most), family income (less money means more spanking), race (African-American mothers spank their children more than other ethnic groups) and religion (parents with more fundamentalist in their religious beliefs spank more than those who are less so). Also most people don't agree on what spanking actually is.…

I agree, in my opinion spanking your child can be an effective way to administer punishment especially if the child is caught in the act of doing something wrong; but I think that if you were to spank the child a while after he or she has already done something wrong it would not be as effective as being caught in the act. As a child, I can remember when my parents would give me a spanking for something I did wrong and most of the time if they caught me in the act and punished me right then and there it stuck better in my head. For example, when I was around 9 years old my dad taught me how to hunt for doves every season we would hunt doves and shoot them.…

Parents have to be cautious when disciplining their children to avoid trouble. Unfortunately, there is not a set behavior that warrants a spanking. Some sources say that it is okay to spank because it aids in building a strong relationship of respect with the parent and child, and it results in well-mannered children and adults. Parents also say that it is normal to spank children and that it is just disciplinary actions (“The Spanking Debate” 1).…

In disciplining children, parents should do everything as kindly and gently as they can first. They should try to understand a child, make sure the child understands what is expected of them, use reasoning and find an adequate nonphysical consequence, like a "timeout" or taking away privileges. But if the child won't cooperate, some kids — at least some of the time — need something more forceful to back it up. b) Establishes Respect Many kids who grew up getting spank by their parents are more respectful to adults c) Disciplinary Tool When used correctly, spanking is safe and effective, and can be an appropriate tool for parents.…

When the parent is not angry, they will be in their right mind to ensure they are punishing their child appropriately. The next detail they give is that loving discipline requires both an explanation of the offenses and the affirmation of our love for our child. (Frye, Tom) Explaining to the child exactly what happens, in detail, will allow the child to truly understand why they are being punished.
