Would you hit your child? How were you raised? These are questions I propose to you as a parent. 94% of 3 and 4 year-olds have been spanked at least once this past year, according to a study 74% of moms believe spanking is acceptable for kids ages 1 to 3,and another study, 61% of parents approve spanking as a "regular form of punishment" for young children (O’Callaghan.) This is a very controversial argument. Now I believe a child needs a spanking every once in awhile when they act a fuss, if you let kids run the household with empty threats, and soft punishments, they learn no respect, and I believe sets them up for a life filled with let downs, and false entitlements that may lead them to a life on the street.

Spanking shows that “stronger” is right. When you use physical punishment to show a child that they did something wrong, you are sending the unintended effect of a message that whomever is bigger and stronger decides what’s right. Does this mean your child can control what’s right when he or she becomes stronger than you? Spanking demonstrates that older people have a right to hit younger people, sending the message that older, bigger people have the right to smaller people. This is especially confusing when you’re disciplining a child for hitting
