80 percent of Americans think it is sometimes appropriate to spank your child. While people believe that spanking a child is appropriate, it may cause negative psychological behavior when they grow up. Throughout my research, I have found that 19 percent would agree. I am against parents spanking children and I am ready to explain to you exactly why I believe spanking can cause negative psychological effects in these children. In the 2016 Harris Poll, it showed that 4 out of 5 (80 percent) of Americans said that it is sometimes appropriate for parents to spank a child. This article focuses on looking into scripture to find the appropriate way to discipline a child. A subsection of this article is labeled as ‘How and When to choose Spanking’, gives very good points on when it is okay to spank a child. When going to spank a child, the parent first needs to ensure that they are calm and not angry. Sending the child to time-out and calming down will help ensure the parent is calm.
