A. History and Development of the Company SONY, now being a famous Japanese multinational conglomerate was founded in May 7, 1946 by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. Sony Corporation was the principal Japanese Company to put up its share in the form of American Depositary Receipts on the OTC market of the New York Stock Exchange,United States in the year 1961.In the year 1970, it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. SONY started making history from the year 1973 ,when they first received the first Emmy ever given to a Japanese company for developing the Trinitron color TV system. As SONY Corporation is mainly a manufacturer of Electronics , a major risk factor of Sony is that it has to overcome the the intense competition of the present competitors and also including new potential entrants in the Electronics business based on different kinds of factors including price and function. Even for the products where sony was successful to make its mark ,it still has a strong competitive advantage. For example for image sensors, the present technological capabilities can match up with Sony with just a little effort and this can make it hard for sony to maintain its advantageous market position. For this Sony has to have or develop superior technology , which not only anticipates consumer tastes but also has to rapidly develop differentiated products which will be attractive than other company products with competitive selling prices and features. At present to catch up with the other volatile and competitive nature of consumer electronics , sony has to introduce, or enhance its present products to stimulate customer demand in both present and developing
