The topic of abortion is a controversial issue that is yet to resolve. In 1973, the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade established abortion rights in the constitution that extended woman’s decision on abortion within months of pregnancy until viability of the fetus. This decision balanced woman’s right of choice and the state’s interest to protect human life. Nonetheless, people who support abortion are known as pro-choice who believe that women have the option to choose abortion. Pro-choice people promote women's health by respecting their decision on abortion. They aim to provide a safe and educated environment on abortion, sex education, and contraceptives. Pro-choice people are often associated with Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization that provides maternal and reproductive health services for anyone especially targeting low income families. This include sex education, STD testing, contraceptives, and abortion. Recent debates whether government should defund Planned Parenthood has taken to Congress. While Pro-life stresses their tax dollars goes to fund the immoral actions of abortion, pro-choice argues that abortion is only three percent of their services and government does not fund at all on abortion.
