As a parent how much responsibility should you trust your child with, before it is considered too much? One of the many controversies now is whether or not teenage girls should be allowed to get birth control without the permission of their parents first. Even though everyone has their own opinion on this manner, who is to say whose right and who’s wrong?
From the ages of 13-18 the amount of stress on teens is unreal. They worry about school, grades, sports, boyfriend/girlfriends, and not to mention this is when they get introduced to puberty. Puberty is a change in the limbic system which is critical in the formation of emotions. When you are not fully in control of something as important as emotions you should not be making life changing decisions. Not to mention the extra hormones that can control their behavior. Teenagers tend to think rasher and in the moment rather than the long term affect that their decisions will have on them. This is why teenage girls should consult with their parents and have their permission before they are put on birth control.
Birth control does several different things for those who take it. One of the first things that comes to mind though is that it is a way to prevent pregnancy. It is not 100% effect but very close so what could young, hormone crazy teens think that could mean for them? That if they can get on birth control such as the pill, that they can have sexual intercourse and not have the fear of getting pregnant. From some…
