Even then, the kidnapper wore a mask. By speaking on the phone during the negotiation, it did not give both parties the opportunity to analyze body language or any other type of non-verbal communication. Typically, the best communication avenue is face to face but in this instance, the kidnappers did not want to meet anyone in fear of getting arrested.
Power and persuasive processes Ken and Sandy possessed informational power as they knew that Sam’s family had money and their goal was to get the money by kidnapping Sam’s wife and threatening to kill her. They had previous experience with Sam and knew about his family wealth and that he was not an upstanding citizen. I think one of Sam’s principles are that he respects his country and wants it to be free from wars and other things. Another one of his principles is probably how he likes to be truly honest about things, he likes to tell his brother everything, if he doesn’t say anything. He also doesn’t believe in what his father believes is right. He wants to fight, not just sit around and have other people fighting the war that he could be helping with. He wants to defend his principles by enlisting in the Continental army.…

In the movie, it was important that Sam was viewed through all of the aspects. Every one needed to recognize who he was, who he was living with, how old he was, and the support system he had in order to fully understand. In every one of Sam’s situations, the court system did not think about any environment other than the one that he currently lived in. They did not mention the old house he lived in once after he moved, they just considered the context that he was living in currently and how that would affect his behavior (DeLuca et al. & Nelson,…

The creative editing, ingenious non-speaking scenes, unceasing black humors and hidden social criticism of the film Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance directed by Park Chan-wook are memorable and thought provoking. For example, it is ironic that the moan of pain from the sick sister and the groan of happy expression from upstairs sounds no big different. No wonder the four young neighbors would misunderstand. Enjoyment is separated from suffering only by a wall. When Ryu enjoys the tasty of noodles, he is unable to notice his sister’s pain because of his deafness even in a same space.…

Literary Analysis- Although the text uses a metaphor to compare the government’s rule to “an iron hand”, the tone is fairly neutral as it neither favours nor criticizes the information. The lack of a bias in the text not only provides information so that viewers can formulate their own opinions but it also shows the effect that the police state has on the characters in the movie. By providing information in a neutral tone, the viewers are able to interpret that the government’s absolute rule causes the lack of self-expression. Through the quotation, it is evident that the narrator acknowledges the government's control. However, it does not criticize the effect of the control showing how opinions are censored and only information that is upholds the government can be provided to the general public.…

    V. THE FEMALE VIGILANTE As seen in the previous section, vigilantes were traditionally upper class males in a group. However, with time, the definition has altered- the modern vigilante is more an individual than a group of people and consists of females as well.
