Narrative Essay About Studying God

My Theology Theology is the study of the nature of God or religious belief. I did not know what Theology was until freshmen year of college when I found out that it is a required course I have to take to graduate. Though I have found out that through going church, college, and Bible studies with my friends that I study God every time I read the Bible. I have studied the nature of God and how he relates to the world, but never have I thought of it has being theological. My parents introduced me to church at a young age. I have gone to church almost every Sunday since I was a baby. My home environment has not furthered my knowledge of God, besides for going to church. Unafraid tells the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Rivers tries her best to describe events from Mary’s point of view. Mary was a virgin when pregnant with Jesus, and the book describes her thoughts, doubts, and how she trusted God from the beginning. It was amazing how reading how Mary was an ordinary woman striving to please God in the same way that women still do today. Rivers made Mary seem real and not perfect. This book influence my theological thinking by knowing God speaks to sinners and does not pick favorites. God never left Mary and I know he will never leave me. The second book, Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions in the Midst of Endless Demands, is about the author, Lysa TerKeurst, and her struggle to always say yes to people. This book influenced me, because it taught me saying no is not ungodly or a sin. I found out I was stressing too much on how to please others and not about pleasing God. After reading the book, I now have time to study the Bible and make time to
