There are many factors that are taken into consideration when being hired for a job. There are the basic factors: education, skills, resume, experience, and age. Depending on what factors you have, that can be the defining line on whether you get hired or not. However, there are several statistics that show females get hired or get promotions significantly less than their male counterparts — gender is an unspoken factor that gets taken into consideration. This is a major issue in today’s society because as time has passed, the role of women has evolved and needs to continue to evolve. Women are no longer just housewives, they can become more than that if they desire, however men often look down on them and create generalizations and stereotypes. If we want equality between males and females, then women need to change mens’ perspectives on how they view them in the workforce, and acknowledge that they are all equally capable. Instead of men viewing them as incapable or judging them based on their appearance, women should be hired if they have the right qualifications for a job. However, women also need to continue working and being key members in the community in order to demonstrate their own value; they are the ones with the ability to dedicate their time and have commitment to significantly change the way men and society view them. The problems of generalization and discrimination stem from women themselves, they have the power to change and have an impact on this issue…
