One of the greatest foundations of racial issues in my opinion is Racial Profiling. Racial profiling is the act of suspecting or targeting a person of a certain race based on a stereotype about their race. In main words, it’s just basically stereotyping. Racial profiling seems to be big in law enforcement. A good example of racial profiling by the police is when A Hispanic driver is stopped in a "white" neighborhood because he "doesn’t belong there" or "looks to be out of place and/or a group of black teenagers are pulled over because of the kind of car they are driving. I as an everyday citizen am guilty of racial profiling. There are times that I have said some things that I should have not said. For example, my daughter has a thing for long hair and she would say “Oh mom look at that black girls hair, it sure is pretty and long”, and I have automatically came back with the comment of “It’s not real, it’s a weave.” I had to stop myself and explain to my daughter that I was wrong for saying that because who knows just because she was black does not mean that it is not her real hair. It took me becoming a Christian to realize how wrong I was for saying that to my daughter or just too even think it.
Another cause of racial issues is the “upbringing” or “rising” to be prejudice. Some people were just born into a household of hatred and/or racism. It was taught to tell by their parents and it was taught to them by their grandparents and so on and so on. I mean…
