Racial discrimination in employment is a serious issue which needs to be openly addressed if equality has to be achieved. Racial discrimination has dominated over the past century. Even though the rates are not as high, it still remains a problem till today. In most cases racial discrimination is more dominant in school and workplaces. Racial discrimination can be defined as the practice of treating individuals in different manner because of their race. EEOC is an agency that is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person’s race, color, religion, sex, disability and national origin (EEOC, 2015). It provides leadership and guidance to the federal agencies on all aspects of the federal government’s equal employment opportunity program (EEOC, 2015). The agency makes sure that it prevent discrimination before other programs perform the outreach. Over the past couple of years, cases of racial discriminations were very high and this is when the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission stepped in. Ever since then, the cases are becoming rarer. This topic is important to the study of cultural diversity because it brings to the light issues facing the world today as a result of racial discrimination.
