My professional goal is to obtain a Walden’s Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in crisis and trauma intervention. I would especially like to work with individuals affected by crisis, trauma, and grief, and help them overcome their personal and social problems that have, without a doubt, strong negative influences on their lives. Studying at Walden University is important to me, because this school will give me the knowledge and skills that I need to help people make the most of their own abilities, develop skills, and empower them to reach their goals. In the future, after gaining more knowledge and experience about mental health, I want to create mental health service agencies across the United States that will help the Hmong community address issues regarding healthcare, trauma, crisis, and stress with individuals, families, children, and military personnel. I want to help people who are underprivileged and desire to overcome obstacles in their life. I want to teach them and give them skills on how to cope and grow mentally and emotionally. Afterwards, I want to expand my service and experience to other countries and cultures. Not many people have heard of the Hmong ethnic group before, so first, I would like to describe who the Hmong are. Hmong are an ethnic group from the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Hmong are divided into 18 distinct tribes or clans such as Yang, Vang, Xiong, Thao, and Chue.
