Goal Statement
Personal, Academic, and Professional Goals/Personal Qualities:
Currently applying to the Walden University Master of Science and specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program (MHCP).
My goals are to retire from my current career field as a Department of the Army's Civilian and to continue to work with my first love. A mental health counselor to assist soldiers, family members, and civilians. As a retired twenty-two-year veteran, working with soldiers have always been my first love. However, by obtaining a degree in pursuit of license in the state of Kansas would allow me to continue to use my personal background as a veteran to assist others in the capacity of a professional Mental Health Counselor (MHC).
Pursuing the MHCP online, allows me to attend school, work at my current job, and take care of my family. Unlike on camp programs. Therefore, now reaching my second retirement is the perfect time to start pursuing a career field in becoming a counselor.
As I stated above, my personal goals are to work with the mentally ill soldiers and my professional goals are to get licensed in the state of Kansas and obtain employment as an (MHC) or go into private practice as an MHC. …show more content…
Completion of an AA and a BA degree in human service gave me the knowledge needed to assist the elderly at church and around the community in the obtainment of benefits offered thru the state of Kansas. The services to the cancer patient in filling out forms to nursing home information or getting hospice assistant, food assist, a listening ear to soldiers whom the family has left for one reason or another, spouses and their children for abuse. By obtaining a degree in Counselor will equip me with the knowledge need to achieve a license with the state of Kansas in pursuit of becoming a
