Project Read Aloud Analysis

Before taking CRE-101, I have never heard about Project Read Aloud. When reading the directions about the assignment I thought this assignment did not come in such perfect timing. My seven-year old sister Ammy has a tough time reading at times. Her teacher and my parents decided to make a plan so that Ammy could get more confident reading. The plan was for us as a family to take turns reading to her before she goes to bed.
When picking a partner, the first person I thought of was my sister Ammy who is seven-years old. The week before I started to read to her I went to my local library, I asked the Libran what books she would recommend for a child who has some trouble reading. She stacked piles of books from Dr. Suess and all kinds.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote this speech after the outbreak of white mobsters in Little Rock, AK. In 1954 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Brown in the Brown vs Board of Education case, unanimously deciding that segregated schools were “Inherently unequal” and laws that segregated schools were unconstitutional. But, before I go into depth on the speech, let me explain a little bit more on why it was needed. In 1957 the Little Rock Board of Education implemented the first chapter in their integration of schools that was required by the Federal government.…

If asked what education is, everybody will give any dictionary definition without finding out their own definition. For me, knowledge is the first keyword which is in my head when I hear the question. Improving knowledge is the first aspect of education helps to gain more information, get more valuable experience, and train more skills. Thus, we realize the other side of life which we have not ever known. In Learning to Read and Write, Douglass confirms, “The moral which I gain from the dialogue was the power of truth over the conscience of even a slaveholder” (120).…

I completely agree with all of your statements and how we can give children knowledge to be healthy and active. Unfortunately, children are being denied their physical activity time. This could be due to being disruptive in the classroom or homework is not completed, so the children are punished and their recess time is taken away from them. In the book, “The Read-Aloud Handbook”, by Jim Trelease, he discusses not only the benefits of reading aloud to children, but the difference that Finland has with the United States. In the book, Trelease states, “…there are fifteen minutes of recess for every forty-five minute class…”…

My read aloud did not followed my lesson plan, before I read the story to the students, I forgot to show the students all the pictures in the storybook as I planned. The high points from my read aloud were that the students were engaged by acting out as baby owls or owl mother, and answering the questions from the storybook. The weak points from my read aloud were reading the story too fast, and after I asked a question to the students, I should wait a little longer wait time for the students to think and response. To make the read aloud better for next time, I will need to slow down my speed and pause as needed. Also, after reading the story, I should ask the students some questions for them to connect their own experiences with the story,…

The class is reading “Woods Runner” by Gary Paulsen. The majority of the time, the teacher will read aloud to the students as they follow along in their own books at their desks. Jim Trelease says, “Reading aloud to children helps them develop and improve literacy skills -- reading, writing, speaking, and listening. And since children listen on a higher level than they read, listening to other readers stimulates growth and understanding of vocabulary and language patterns” (Trelease, 2013).…

Would you stop something dangerous from happening even if it hurt your relationships with your friends? Many students face this question everyday and an alarming amount of them would say no. This is a very dangerous way of thinking especially in scenarios where people's lives are at risk. The reasons often revolve around how the students feel their friendships or reputations would be affected. Although some readers of “To Tell or Not To Tell” by Mary Kate Frank have argued students should not speak up, because of the possible damage to friendships there could be, closer examination shows that not speaking up has far more repercussions than not doing so, by not speaking out the problems have room to become more dangerous.…

In our Literacy Internship/Internship 3 course we were to do a ‘Read Aloud’ assignment. We could it base onto any piece of literature that was our choosing or if our mentoring teacher had one, she or he wanted us to do it on. When I had asked my mentor teacher when she would like me to do my ‘Read Aloud’ assignment for the class she also mentioned a book she would like me to do for the class. Thankfully, it was the week of Dr. Seuss week, so she had picked out Wacky Wednesday for me to read. She also mentioned if I did not want to read that one, I could choose one of my choice, but I said that it was fine, because I had never read this one and thought it’d be a good idea to do it.…
