Pro Life Vs. Pro Choice
“One in three women will have an abortion by the age of 45.” Meaning around 43% of women in the U.S. population will have an abortion some time in their life. The definition of abortion is “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Therefore, abortion is immoral and unethical because it is the intentional killing of a human being. When people decide to have sex they are taking that risk of pregnancy. Whether protection or birth control was used or not pregnancy is still a chance. Abortion is such a controversial issue in society because although some people are completely against it some people can not choose because they believe women should have

Meanwhile the definition of abortion remains the same and is an intentional killing of a human being. How is it that if it it murder to kill a human being at any stage of life abortion is not considered murder. Murder is morally and ethically wrong, so playing by the same rules, to kill a fetus would fall under the same immoral and unethical values. When performing an abortion, the life of an innocent child is taken away. Abortion denies a child its most basic and important right to live and experience the world around them. No one has the right to take away someone else 's life, whether it be in the womb or out it is still wrong and unjust. A fetus gets no say in the decision to get the procedure or not which makes it extremely unfair to them. Who knows that baby could have had the cure for cancer some day when they grew up, but that opportunity was taken from them. Many moms do not realize that later on in life they will have regrets that they did not get to keep someone they created. Something that was literally inside of …show more content…
In extreme cases, one may have to be sensitive and consider if a woman was raped. She may not want to go through with her pregnancy because the baby will remind her of the occurrence. Also because the biological father can still fight for custody of the child meaning that the women would have to deal with her rapist for 18 years until the child is of age. However, going back over to why abortion is unjust, if a woman is raped, and is aware of being raped she has the opportunity to seek medical attention. As a result of seeking medical attention, proper medical care can ensure that the women will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes a child who did nothing wrong, when in these circumstances the criminal should be the one

Every unborn child should have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the second and third trimester. In 2010, research shows that states indicated that unborn children are considered humans under tort, property and criminal law (Roden, 2010). By these laws shown, a mother shouldn’t get to choose whether the fetus lives or dies. The unborn child is its own person and by a mother aborting her own child should be considered murder. Under law a child is supposed to be born for many different reasons, including being capable of having a legacy (Roden, 2010).…

No one has the right to take away a life of a person, especially the innocent unborn child who cannot defend its authority, the right to life. Adding to this exception, the woman has the right to abortion. IF, a woman got pregnant without her consent, like in the case of rape or incest then she has the right to terminate her pregnancy. The negative consequences to the birth of the fetus in each case outweighs the wrongness in the killing of the unborn child. For instance, look at a case of a fourteen-year-old girl who became pregnant due to rape. That fourteen-year-old girl did not ask to carry a child, nor did she want to have a child; this girl has lost the right to decide what happens to her body as she was forced to have sex. If she were to give birth to the child, she would lose out on the experiences and opportunities available to her before the unwanted pregnancy. Furthermore, it can be justified that an abortion would provide a better outcome for the mother than if she produced an unwanted child.…

The opinions of people usually fall into two groups; pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life advocates believe that abortion is murder. They feel strongly that terminating a pregnancy is terminating a life. Often time’s abortion is against a religion. At the point of conception a fetus is recognized by god, therefore terminating a pregnancy is a form of murder which disobeys many religions (AbortionProcon.org).…

Abortion has been a great topic of debate for many years, both in terms of law/rights and in morality/religion. The constant debate has split people into two sides: Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Those who are Pro-Choice believe that women have a right to decide the fate of their body, health, and life. They personally may not get an abortion, but they feel that it is still the right of the mother to choose. Abortion prevents unsafe pregnancies, protects women 's right to choose, liberates women from patriarchal control over women 's sexual and reproductive lives, and allows the mother to choose whether, when, and how often to have a child.…

There are many doctors who have put this argument into a statement, saying “there is never a situation in law or in the ethical practice of medicine where a preborn child’s life if need be intentionally destroyed by procured abortion for the purpose of saving the life of the mother. A physician must do everything possible to save the lives of both his patient's, mother and child. he must never intend the death of either.” (Thompson 104). Pregnancy resulting from rape is one example of why women get abortions. Among U.S. adult women there is an estimated amount of 32,101 pregnancies consequent of rape each year. Although only 1% of all abortions are from rape/incest, this seemingly low percentage of pregnancy should not be devalued or dismissed. Imagine, not only having to bear the physical and emotional scars subsequent the trauma of sexual assault, but compound that devastation with the shock of pregnancy. Then, imagine being forced to carry the child for nine months and having to contemplate on whether to keep the baby or choose adoption.…

As Thomson says, even if the mother knew the risks of sex she is still not morally responsible for the fetus even if she is causally responsible. Women should be able to abort especially in the case of rape because women don't want to grow up hating their child because they know how their child came to be. Some women become depressed, get into drugs and start resenting life and family. Having the child of their rapist is always going to be a reminder of the past. they won't be able to move forward because they will be reminded of the past every time they look at their child.…
