Pride and Prejudice
Book vs. Movie Every person likes to watch movies, but usually people watch movies that are not related to books. Not everyone prefers to watch the adaptation of the book, because adaptations generally derogate from the plot of the book or has some parts changes. Anyway a difference of the movie from the book is always present. It is not an easy job to film decent movie, moreover it is harder to create proper adaptation of a famous and respectable book. An example of such book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This book has several adaptations. The movie that will be compared to the book which is the 2005 adaptation starring Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen in main roles.
The Pride and Prejudice was written by British author Jane Austen and was first published in 1813. What is better the movie or the book is troublesome question. I prefer reading books because I can imagine the characters, the emotions, whether in the book it is already given. It is rare that the movie and the my imaginations coincide that’s why if I read the book, I wouldn’t watch the movie, and if I watched the movie, I wouldn’t read the book. However, after I read the book and watched the movie, I was satisfied. The movie is a very fine and delicate narration of the book, although it didn’t keep close to the movie. Anyway, it is up to person to decide what is better, tastes differ and one opinion will no necessarily match with another. I do recommend those who haven’t read or watched Pride and Prejudice either to read or to watch it or

I can see why some people like the movie more than the book for a couple of reasons. Some people don’t like to read, and they would rather watch a movie on something. I get that they wouldn’t want to read a 180 paged book, if they could just watch an hour long movie and still get all the information the need. Another reason, is that some people like to hear the sounds of the movie, or the voices of the characters. They might like how in the movie, it shows that the church was burning up and they could hear the crackling, fire rise. Instead of where in the book where it takes a page to describe how hot the fire is and how dangerous it is to go near it. The last reason is, that some people like to see the character’s appearances, it takes a chapter to describe all of the characters appearances, in the movie it only takes a second. In the movie all you have to do is look at the characters to know what their features are. In shorter words, some people probably just don’t want to take the time to read a book, when they know they could just watch the movie…

One of the major change is between the novel and the film is, the book moves at a slower pace than the movie. The movie moves at such a fast pace that by the time any characters die you don’t feel much for them. In the movie the acting feel fake and rushed, the book feels real and more well thought out.…

It is a typical thing in literature for a book to be more enjoyable to the reader than the movie will be as the reader has the freedom to decide what his own scenes look like. The book is superior to the movie in that the representations of violence are less in most ways than in the book. Also, the characters portrayal is much different when comparing the book and movie. The Pride and Prejudice novel was written by Jane Austen during the 18th century in 1813 and is centered around the futures and fortunes of the five daughters of the Bennet family. When this book was written, it was a time and culture when women were treated unequally to men. Therefore, women have little independence and were always at a disadvantage, different from the life style women live today. Pride and Prejudice takes place in a society where a role for women is earned through relationships that are determined by wealth and rank, marriage and social status. Women were to act in a specific way and any deviation from that specific way was harshly criticized. Women are also married at a certain age, if not; it was frowned upon by the society…
