Yet, with all these alluring places, why does it feel like there is nothing to do in this town? Truth is, most people are not looking hard enough.

She usually attends the football games here in Granite Hills. She also thinks that there should be a Pride Parade in Porterville. She says, “Pride Parade, make it happen. And watch for shadows.”
Let us go from a teenage girl in high school to an aging individual already out of school. Town expert, Dwight Chaddock, is a man living his days going to Dutch oven meetings and generally being a good citizen. He has lived in Porterville for 54 years, so he has definitely been to some famous and some not-so-famous places in his time.
When I had asked him the age-old question of what restaurants he recommended, he recommended Jenny Lynn’s, an establishment located at 670 S. Plano Street. Jenny Lynn’s is open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, it is open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., while on Saturdays and Sundays, it is open 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. He says that they have a wide variety of food, serving breakfast, and lunch. Since Dwight has lived 54 years in this town, he must know some interesting facts about Porterville, right? Well, of course he does! Would I lie to you? He had mentioned that Porterville had started out as railroad in the 1880s and ever since then, it had progressed into the town we live in. He has also stated that there are flowers on Lewis Hill that only grows annually in Kern Tulare, Fresno. Lewis Hill protects two types of flowers: the Adobe Lily, and the San Joaquin Adobe Sunburst. There are usually two or three, but in some years, there have been as many as eight of them at a time.
Dwight did not disappoint with his vast knowledge of this town. When asked about the events he regularly goes to, he mentioned Music in Main. Performances start every Friday in April, May, and June. They start at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. There are also car races at Rocky Hill, along with live band performances, and dances for the senior citizens. He also mentioned how we are fairly close to the Sequoias. He says, “One reason why I live in Porterville is for the location. 30 minutes to the snow, 2 hours to the ocean. We are close to the Sequoias also. Within the hour, you can be at the mountains where Bill Clinton named it
