As a society the United States of America have endured numerous social issues where the country has been able to identify the issue and move forward accordingly with a resolution put in place. However, in recent accounts, one social issue in particular has become quite successively one that the United States of America have not been able to find a solution to. Police brutality is one of the major social issue that is impacting many communities within the United States of America today especially the African American community. What is police brutality exactly? As Garry Rodgers stated in the article What’s Considered Police Brutality. Police brutality is the wanton use of excessive force, usually physical, but can also occur in forms of verbal attacks and psychological intimidation by a police officer……… which include: false arrest, intimidation, racial profiling, political repression, surveillance abuse, sexual abuse, and police corruption (Rodgers, What’s Considered Police). These Individuals who sign up within the career field of law enforcement is expected to serve and protect the community within the united states. However, the prominent images of police brutality within the African American community cause individuals to question the job description of the officers whom participate in the use of excessive force and abuse of power within the law enforcement career field which is set out to serve and protect all communities within the united states.
