What is culture and how does culture influence leadership? Culture is a very complex phenomenon, and it can be hard to define it, especially when it is often used as a complimentary word in many different contexts, such as “business culture”, “sports culture” or “military culture” and etc.. However, in its core culture can be understood as a setting of beliefs, customs and ways of life of particular society, place or group. How do you define authentic leadership and what does it mean? I would define authentic leadership as a leadership, in which leaders are aware of their strengths and weaknesses, make decisions according to their values, demonstrate empathy, and, most importantly, shows their real picture to the subordinates. It means that leader won’t show different personality every time, or attempt to be one person at work, and another person at public. Authentic leader is able to provide constant presence, which is genuine and not copied from anyone else. In other words, authentic leader knows who he is and tries to develop himself and give his best to achieve the goals, which always represent leader’s values and beliefs. Another thing of authentic leader is his ability to generate trust and create comfortable, open and efficient work environment. Authenticity and self-awareness can differentiate great leaders from the good ones. For example, Martin Luther King was a good example of the authentic

There is no doubt that culture remains one of the core determinants of leadership styles. In this case, culture is defined as a set of ideas, beliefs, values, traditions, and rituals that are exhibited by a community or a population. Studies on leadership have identified a strong correlation between leadership practices and their effectiveness in the cultural paradigm in which they are exercised (Trompenaars & Voerman, 2010).
